You deserve to get the longest vase life out of your flowers! Here are some of my tips as well as some of my customers' tips for keeping your bouquets long-lasting.
My tips:
1. Keep the water plentiful! It won't take you too long to discover that my flowers drink up a TON of water. That is because each flower is like a living straw. Because my flowers are so fresh they are still actively drinking up water as if they were in the field.
2. Keep the water clean! Cloudy and green is not clean. Remember how I said that the flowers are like straws? Well, dirty water clogs the stems so that the flowers cannot drink up the water and nutrients they need - so they die. It also helps to give their stems a cut after two or three days.
3. Feed them the packet of food I give to you! Yes, the food will help the flower not only stay alive longer but keep a nice color.
4. Keep them away from produce. It has been shown that fruit gives off ethelyne which will make your flowers not last as long. (I often wonder who thought that flowers should be by the produce in the grocery store.)
Here are some tips from my customers:
1. Let the bouquet drink plain water for a couple of days and then feed them the packet of food.
2.Keep them in a sunny spot.
I too have found that my flowers will produce food for themselves if they are put into a relatively sunny room. I often put a flower arrangement out on my covered porch and leave it to its own devices. (I break every rule listed above). I have been amazed at how long they last!
